They are young people who work for youngsters in a vulnerable situation. They believe in their work so they spend their time, and that also means their free time, to work for them, for all of us and for the society.
Social workers have also problems, because they are humans, but they forget them for a while to listen and to try to resolve the circumstances of the others. They have the feeling than they are doing a good job, but they need that their work is recognised for the governments and the state.
They are social workers from Italy, Belgium, The Nederlands, France and Germany and they came to Antwerp European Youth Capital, 2011 last 8th June to attend during 3 days in Huis van de Sport the conferences and workshops given by the experts Prof. Dr. Howard Williamson, Dr. Filip Coussée and Prof Dr. Guy Redig in order to put in common worries about the labour of social workers in Europe and find a European youth policy.
Conferences and workshops were organised by Uit de Marge (“out of the margin”) which dedicates itself to the rights of children and youngsters risking social exclusion.
